Renewable Energy: Solar, Wind or Solar Wind?

Posted: October 7, 2010 in News

A university in Washington is looking at capturing energy from the solar winds that come from the sun and shoot past and around the earth. By their calculations, an 8,400 km wide solar sail could capture more energy than the world currently uses/needs. The energy would be sent back to earth by way of infrared laser. One drawback is that more accurate lasers would need to be produced to successfully send the energy back, as a lot of the original energy could be lost otherwise.
